Zoe’s love for yoga began with her personal asana practice and has since grown and changed with the changes that her life has brought. After many years of personal practice she attended Asheville Yoga Center in 2013 receiving her 200hr teaching certification. Immediately to follow she began her modules in her 300hr training deepening her practice even more in Vinyasa, Pre and post-natal, breath-work and Anatomy and training with the author of Yoga Anatomy Leslie Kaminoff. Since beginning to teach she has also received her 200hr E-RYT certification through Yoga Alliance.
For Zoe the practice stemmed from her personal asana practice, moved into teaching and then it became a space for her to offer sustainability and mobility in students lives. Eventually growing in to far more as the spiritual aspects of the eight limbs happily crept in. She found a love for the business of yoga and managed a studio for a year. After the birth of her son the asana became less prevalent and opened up the space and time for a deeper meditation practice. Zoe loves creating Mala necklaces used for Japa Meditation practices and helping others incorporate them into their own yogic lifestyles.
Zoe’s teaching style is accessible to all. Her classes are vinyasa with a focus on steady breath and overall sustainability in the asana practice and mobility in every day life.
“I love the discipline that comes with a serious practice, but as an instructor I tend to lean towards a less stern practice. I try to guide in a way that breaks down the barriers that students come in with using laughter. Over the years I’ve learned students walls fall best when they are able to laugh at themselves and with one another. Though the practice has a serious side, my classes are very easy going and ideally you come and go feeling that you had fun. Adults don’t get as many opportunities to play nowadays and when students can come to a safe space and play, that is when I see the most commitment, dedication and growth in practices. I can offer the flow, the breath and the knowledge of the eight limbs, but what sets me apart as an instructor is the tools I use to make you comfortable in the studio space and with your own yoga asana practice.”
Zoe is honored to be teaching with Maui Yoga Loft and offering what she can to the Maui, Kihei community. She deeply grateful and looks forward to practicing with you on the mat.
